BIOGRAPHY

Dan-Georges Mckenzie is an Innu singer-songwriter from the North Shore community of Uashat mak Mani-Utenam. Noticed in 2019 by Musique Nomade, he created his first song, Nishim, dedicated to his twin brother. In winter 2022, he unveils his first EP, Uitamui, produced in collaboration with Makusham Studio and Musique Nomade. In his luminous country-folk-pop songs, Dan-Georges speaks of resilience, love and family.

A favorite of the public and the jury, he won several prizes at the Vue sur la relève festival and was the first Indigenous Artist to reach the semi-finals of the 26th edition of the Francouvertes with a show in an indigenous language. A historic moment in the small world of emerging music. On stage, he has undeniable charisma, loves to entertain, and is sure to make you want to sing in Innu-aimun. In summer 2023, he unveils his new country-folk single Mishkutinam(u), co-written in frinnu (French and Innu-aimun) with Alex Burger, preparing audiences for a debut album due out in 2024.
