For the first time, Musique Nomade held a Stopover in an urban setting, in the heart of Montreal, offering Indigenous artists living in the city the opportunity to take part in a creative experience traditionally held within Indigenous communities. Held last fall at the Sanaaq Centre, this Stopover gave rise to nine musical projects that now make up this album. On The Road — Montréal - Tiohtià:ke - Mooniyang offers a bold blend of hip-hop, folk, rock, pop and indie. Through these diverse sounds, the artists open up and share works that reflect their worlds, experiences and creativity, revealing the cultural richness and diversity of Indigenous voices present across the Montréal territory. With this first urban Stopover, Musique Nomade continues its commitment to creating spaces for connection and artistic creation for Indigenous artists, adapting to the different contexts in which communities and artists live and work.
